An Excuse To Drink – January 10, 1863: 150th Anniversary of The London Underground

150 years ago today, the London Underground, the world’s oldest underground railway system (and “a key strategic weakness in metropolitan living.”, if you believe Doctor Who) opened to the general public between London Paddington station and Farringdon station.

The Underground Cocktail

  • 1 tablespoon Averna Amaro
  • 1 ounce rum
  • 1 tablespoon Aperol
  • 2 dashes mole bitters (we suggest Bitter End’s Mexican Mole Bitters)
  • 3 dashes orange bitters
  • top with 3 ounces champagne

Glass: Champagne Flute

Garnish: None

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled champagne flute. Top with Champagne
