Happy birthday to rock-guitar legend Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, born today in 1955 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Eddie and brother Alex would go on to form the hard rock band “Van Halen” (formerly Mammoth) in 1972. Although rarely seen in public eye today, Eddie remains one of the most influential guitarists.

- 1 oz Cranberry Juice
- 1 oz Melon Liqueur
- 1 oz Peach Schnapps
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- 1 oz Vodka
Glass: Shot
Garnish: None
Shake with ice and strain into multiple chilled shot-glasses.
Van Halen Special
recipe reverse-engineered from a drink served at Marie Laveau’s Voodoo Bar, New Orleans. It looks like a variation on the Bushwacker cocktail.
- 1 oz Kahula
- 1 oz Amaretto
- 1 oz Rum
- 1 oz Vodka
- 4 oz Milk
Glass: Collins
Garnish: None, though a traditional Bushwacker is garnished with a dash of nutmeg.
Fill blender 1/2 to 3/4 full of ice. Add ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour into a collins glass.
