Heralded two days before during Super Bowl XVIII by the now legendary Ridley Scott “1984″ commercial, the Apple MacIntosh 128K, finally went on sale to consumers. It’s game-changing graphical user interface made many people write the system off as a kid’s toy and software developers were slow to adapt their mainly text-based applications for the new system. The initial price point was in the $2,000 range, but was quickly raised to $2,500 when “Test Drive an Apple” campaigns put a strain on supply.
