Today we mark what would have been the 90th birthday of Gene Roddenberry, creator of the Star Trek franchise. Roddenberry was born on this date in 1921 in El Paso Texas and worked in military and civil aviation as well as the LA Police Department before moving on to work in TV and film.
So in remembrance of Gene, switch on your favorite Star Trek incarnation and have a toast. As usual, here’s an appropriate cocktail:
Star Seeker
recipe adapted from Gary Regan’s Bartender’s Bible
- 2 oz Light Rum
- 1 oz Orange Juice
- 1 tsp grenadine
- 4 oz Tonic Water
Glass: Highball or Collins
Garnish: Lemon Wedge
Build in an ice-filled highball glass, stir and top off with tonic water. Garnish.
