The crew here at A History of Drinking enjoys going to Vegas.
We also enjoy staying at least part of our trip downtown. At the very least we try to make it down there at least one night.
The Downtown/Fremont area can be pretty interesting. And by interesting we mean scummy. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Who hasn’t wandered around in a haze without pants at the El Cortez at 5am? Or fell down on top of a 25 cent Wheel of Fortune slot machine after too many losses, and free rum and cokes, at La Bayou? So scummy and Vegas is par for the course. At least for us.
But before the debauchery takes hold, we like to visit one of the brighter spots in the downtown area, Main Street Station. This casino/hotel sits a block or so off the Fremont Street Experience. It is old and somewhat classy. It also has a pretty good buffet.
But our favorite part, besides the chunk of the Berlin Wall in the men’s restroom, is the Triple 7 Brewpub.
The food is good here with a large and diverse menu. They even have a sushi bar in here.
But most importantly the beer is pretty good as well. We usually try the beer sampler and see how many fights within our crew we get into afterward.
So if you are downtown, this place warrants a visit.
