Happy National Brandy Alexander Day!

Yes, January 31st is National Brandy Alexander Day! Though rumored to have been created for the wedding of The Princess Mary, Princess Royal (eldest daughter of England’s King George V and Queen Mary) and George Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood in 1922, the true origin of this classic drink is unknown. A previous drink named simply “The Alexander”, contained gin, creme de cocao and sweet cream, and the “brandy” version may just be a simple swap-out…

Here is a little twist on  the classic recipe:

Hiram’s Brandy Alexander:

  • 1 1/2 parts brandy,
  • 1 part Hiram Walker Brown Creme de Cacao
  • 1/2 part cream or half-and-half
  • splash coffee.

Glass: Cocktail

Garnish: grated nutmeg

Shake and strain into a stemmed glass. Garnish with grated nutmeg.
