An Excuse to Drink: International Beer Day

That’s right!  Today is International Beer Day!

What’s truly unique about this unofficial holiday is that it was born by regular beer aficionados who decided it was a good way to acknowledge the brewers and professionals across the globe that put the barley pop in your glass.  First occurring in 2007, it has gained worldwide recognition and continues to grow.

The Brewer’s Association recommends trying something different today, a beer style you don’t usually drink.  Put the light lager down and try something flavorful.  If you’re a craft beer drinker, try a style you normally shy to.  My decision is difficult as I’ve had over 400 different beers (just about every one the distributor carries) and every BJCP-recognized beer style.  Mind you, I have no problem finding something I like.  Today’s selection caught my eye at my favorite bottle shop and made me think of cool crisp days, brats, oompa bands and die frauleins im dirndl.
