On April 3, 1985, the Hollywood Brown Derby, the second of the chain, closed its doors for good due to leasing problems. Located at 1628 North Vine Street, this location was famous as the birthplace of the Cobb Salad, the celebrity caricatures on the wall and for hosting the 1955 hijinks of the cast of “I Love Lucy”.
The Brown Derby Cocktail:
recipe adapted from Trader Vic’s Bartender’s Guide, 1947
- 1 oz Bourbon
- 1 tsp Honey
- 1 tsp Grapefruit Juice
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass
