Yes, that’s right, October 16th is National Liqueur Day 2010. To celebrate, we’re merging several of our running themes into one cocktail. Just in case you missed our previous posts, this month is National Apple/Applejack month and we’ve had the new 90 proof Original Cinn Cinnamon Schnapps by Hiram Walker in heavy rotation.
Mother Leeds’ Apple Tart
This is an Americanization of the “TARTE AU POMMES” cocktail by Jamie Stephenson of The Lock in Manchester, England. The calvados has been swapped out for the more domestic Laird’s Applejack from New Jersey and the Goldschlager has been replaced by Original Cinn Cinnamon Schnapps. The name is a play on the legend of the mythical Jersey Devil.
- 1 oz Laird’s Applejack
- 1/4 oz Crème de cassis liqueur
- 1/2 oz Hiram Walker’s Original Cinn Cinnamon Schnapps
- 4 oz Ocean Spray cranberry juice
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: Apple slice
Shake with ice and strain into an ice-filled collins glass. Garnish with apple slice
