Jackie Kennedy Cocktails [Recipes]
Jackie Kennedy scandalized the Washington scene when she instructed chef Baldridge to serve cocktails instead of the traditional before dinner punch bowl. The press complained that everything was becoming “too French”, but quickly adapted to the new tradition…
Legend has it that the former first lady left behind a lip-stick stained cocktail glass during a 1967 visit to the Raffles Hotel in Cambodia. It was not found until years later when the bar was under restoration, thus inspiring the drink below. The website mentions that their current version of the cocktail features: Rum, Passion fruit juice , Crème de Banana, Coconut, Pineapple and Lime Juice, but here is the original version:
- 1/4 oz l Crème de Fraise (strawberry liqueur)
- Dash of cognac
Build in a champagne flute, top with Champagne. Garnish with a rose.
